Saquon Barkley made a historic debut with the Philadelphia Eagles in the first NFL game ever played in Brazil, helping lead his team to a 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Barkley was the standout performer, amassing 132 yards from scrimmage and tying his career-high with three touchdowns. He scored on an 18-yard pass from Jalen Hurts and added two rushing touchdowns, dominating the game.

The Packers, however, suffered a potentially significant setback when quarterback Jordan Love sustained a lower-body injury with just 6 seconds remaining in the game. Backup Malik Willis came in for the final two snaps but couldn’t rally the team. Despite the loss, Green Bay wide receiver Jayden Reed put on an impressive performance with 171 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.

Philadelphia controlled much of the game, especially late in the fourth quarter, with a 16-play drive that ate up more than seven minutes of the clock, leading to a field goal that extended their lead to 34-29. Hurts, however, struggled with turnovers, throwing two interceptions and fumbling once. Luckily, Barkley recovered a key fumble late in the game to preserve the Eagles’ lead.

The Packers' defense, led by new coordinator Jeff Hafley, struggled throughout the night. Green Bay missed opportunities, including a crucial missed field goal by rookie kicker Brayden Narveson. Despite these mistakes, the Packers showed resilience, cutting the Eagles' lead to two points in the fourth quarter before Barkley's late-game heroics sealed the win for Philadelphia.

Both teams, playoff contenders from last year, showed promise for the 2024 season, though Love's injury may present concerns for Green Bay.
