TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Treshaun Ward accumulated 138 total yards, including a 13-yard touchdown reception, as Boston College shocked No. 10 Florida State with a 28-13 victory on Monday night. Ward, a Tampa native and former Florida State player from 2019 to 2022, contributed 77 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards, leading the Eagles (1-0, 1-0 ACC) to a strong 263-yard rushing performance.

In his debut, BC coach Bill O'Brien made an immediate impact following Jeff Hafley's departure to the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles' offense orchestrated three long touchdown drives of 71, 68, and 60 yards, and capitalized on a short field after intercepting Florida State's DJ Uiagalelei, quickly turning it into a touchdown.

Uiagalelei completed 21 of 42 passes for 272 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown pass to Kentron Poitier in the third quarter, which narrowed BC's lead to 21-13. However, Florida State, considered a contender for a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff, is now 0-2 for the first time since 2021.

**Takeaways:**

- Boston College: Quarterback Thomas Castellanos, who nearly upset FSU in 2023, shone on Monday, completing 10 of 16 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns, along with 73 rushing yards.

- Florida State: A presumed strength turned out to be a weakness as the Seminoles managed only 21 rushing yards on 16 carries.

**Up Next:**

- Boston College will host Duquesne on Saturday.

- Florida State has a bye week before hosting Memphis on Sept. 14.
