Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, has passed away at the age of 33, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office confirmed to 11Alive on Thursday. The cause of death has not yet been released. The medical examiner’s office was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital.
Atlanta Police responded to a medical call at a residence on Hamden Forest Drive SW in Atlanta around 11:20 a.m. on Thursday. According to 911 records, first responders were called after Quan’s girlfriend found him unconscious on the couch.
Rich Homie Quan rose to prominence in the early 2010s, achieving mainstream success with his 2013 hit single "Type of Way" and his 2015 track "Flex," which reached No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100. He was also a key member of the music group Rich Gang and known for his "melodic flow and catchy hooks," as noted by Variety.
