LaVar Ball has foot amputated after ‘serious medical issue’
LaVar Ball recently had his right foot amputated due to a serious medical issue, according to TMZ Sports. Despite the procedure, the Big Baller Brand co-founder is reportedly in good spirits and recovering well.
Ball, 57, is best known as the outspoken father of NBA players LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, as well as former player LiAngelo Ball. Neither he nor his sons have publicly addressed the situation.
Lonzo, the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, recently signed a two-year, $20 million extension with the Bulls after a prolonged knee injury. LaMelo, the third overall pick in the 2020 draft, won NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021 and became an All-Star in 2022. He’s currently averaging 27.3 points this season but has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
LiAngelo, who last played for Mexican club Astros de Jalisco, has transitioned into a rap career, performing his latest song, “Tweaker,” at the NBA All-Star weekend in San Francisco.
Though LaVar has kept a lower profile in recent years, he continues to support his sons publicly. He previously played basketball at Cal State-Los Angeles and spent time on the practice squads of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.
