Saif Ali Khan Attacked With Knife At Home, Suffers Injuries Close To Spine
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an intruder who broke into his Mumbai home in the early hours of January 16. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. Saif is currently undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai and is reported to be out of danger.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Saif underwent a 2.5-hour neurosurgery earlier today. While the neurosurgery was completed, a plastic surgery procedure is still ongoing. A detailed report on his condition is awaited.
The Bandra Police Station has registered an FIR against the unidentified intruder. According to police reports, the intruder entered Saif Ali Khan’s home while he was asleep. A physical altercation ensued between the actor and the intruder, during which Saif was stabbed six times. The assailant fled the scene shortly after the attack.
Hospital authorities revealed that two of the six stab wounds are deep and located near Saif’s spine, requiring immediate surgical intervention. Three attendants employed at Saif’s residence are currently being questioned by the police in connection with the incident.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has launched a parallel investigation into the attack. Seven special teams have been formed to track down the suspect, including one team reviewing CCTV footage for leads, three teams searching various areas of Mumbai, and another team set to investigate outside the city.
Saif Ali Khan’s team released an official statement acknowledging the incident and requesting privacy during this time. The statement read: “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan's residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient as this is a police matter. Updates will be shared as they become available.”
A similar statement was issued by Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team, which added that the rest of the family is safe. “There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif sustained an injury on his arm and is undergoing a procedure in the hospital. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request the media and fans not to speculate as the police are conducting their investigations. Thank you for your concern.”
