Bridge and road closure updates following winter storm
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Winter weather has created hazardous conditions across the panhandle, leading to numerous road and bridge closures. Authorities urge caution and recommend avoiding travel unless absolutely necessary.
Bay County
All roadways and bridges in Bay County are deemed unsafe and impassable until further notice.
Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford advises residents to stay off the roads. Bridge closures will be determined by Florida Highway Patrol, local law enforcement, and Emergency Services.
Law enforcement and barricades will not be posted at the base of closed bridges, but crossing them is highly dangerous.

The Churchwell Drive Bridge is temporarily closed due to hazardous weather, along with Churchwell Drive between Front Beach Road and Middle Beach Road.
Walton County
Interstate 10 is closed in both directions from Exit 70 (Mossy Head) to Exit 5 in Pensacola.
The Baldwin Avenue Bridge in Defuniak Springs is closed.
Okaloosa County
The Baldwin Avenue and 331 South Overpass remain closed.
I-10 is closed from Mile Marker 5 in Escambia County to Mile Marker 70 in Okaloosa County.
Eglin Parkway is reduced to two lanes due to low visibility.
Both directions of SR 85 in Crestview are shut down between John King Road and Mirage Road.
The Shoal River Bridge on US Highway 90 in Crestview is impassable.
Several overpasses, including the I-10 overpass on Antioch Road and Wilkerson Bluff Road over I-10, are iced over and impassable.
Bridges on Hwy 2, Peaden, and Sherman Kennedy are closed due to heavy icing.
Liberty County
The Apalachicola River Bridge remains open and will not close at 3:00 p.m. as previously announced.
Holmes County
All roads are closed due to hazardous conditions caused by ice and snow.
Gulf County
Highway 71 South near the Gulf/Calhoun County line is temporarily closed due to a motor vehicle accident.
Calhoun County
All roads in Calhoun County are officially closed.
The Apalachicola River Bridge on State Road 20 and Highway 71 South near the Gulf/Calhoun County line are closed.
Jackson County
All roads are now closed in Jackson County.
