Former LSU Receiver Kyren Lacy Faces Arrest Warrant After Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident

The Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, 24, in connection with a fatal crash on December 17 that claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall of Thibodaux, Louisiana. Lacy is accused of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

According to police reports, Lacy was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on Louisiana Highway 20 when he recklessly passed multiple vehicles at high speed in a no-passing zone. His actions allegedly forced a northbound pickup truck to brake and swerve, prompting a chain reaction. A 2017 Kia Cadenza, attempting to avoid Lacy’s oncoming car, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorento.

Police allege Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled without providing aid, contacting emergency services, or reporting his involvement. Hall, a passenger in the Kia Sorento, later succumbed to his injuries. The drivers of both vehicles sustained moderate injuries.

Lacy and his attorney are reportedly in contact with authorities regarding his surrender. His agent, Rocky Arceneaux, issued a statement affirming Lacy’s cooperation and expressing confidence that the facts will eventually clarify the situation.

Lacy played two seasons at Louisiana before transferring to LSU in 2022. During the past season, he recorded 58 catches for 866 yards and nine touchdowns. Just two days after the crash, Lacy declared for the NFL draft.
